The countdown has begun!

Tuesday evening as. you can become the proud owner of one or more embryos that have been selected for you with care and attention. We can rightly speak of a special collection. You can bid on the embryos from 8 pm tonight. The auction closes Tuesday evening from 8 p.m. Good to know, we don't want you to miss out on your future topper!

In addition to the 15 embryos, you also have the opportunity to buy two straws of frozen semen from foundation sires Donnerhall and Florestan I. These heroes have more than earned their spurs in the dressage world. Stallions that never go out of style and that many dressage enthusiasts would like to have a foal from next year!

Dressage collection

The selectors have succeeded in selecting the crème de la crème of embryos for you. An Indian Rock embryo out of the fantastic dam Endy O. We were also able to select several embryos from proven stallion dams, namely the dams of Ladignac, Ferdinand, High Five US and the full sister of Charmeur. Very exceptional! We were also able to obtain a Desperados FRH embryo with the perfect dressage blood build-up from Ferro x Rubinstein I x Donnerhall for our collection.

To jump

For the jumping enthusiast, the selection committee has been able to select a number of very interesting embryos from the best dam lines of the moment. We have embryos from the Roosakker and Querly Chin family and from the Valentina van 't Heike line in our collection. You can have these in your possession this Tuesday evening! Embryos by For Pleasure and Emerald respectively from the sisters of G & C Arrayan and CiCi Senjor Ask are up for auction. From Spruce Meadows winner Candy you have the opportunity to purchase a granddaughter or grandson whose sire is none other than Chacco Blue.

wild card

In the last week before the start of the auction, we were able to add one more embryo to the collection. The great talent Asgard's Ibiza is responsible for the fatherhood of this embryo. The Desperado son makes a big impression with his offspring and recently made his debut at Small Tour level. The dam of this embryo is the famous stallion dam Vurona (v. Negro x Vincent). Her sons High Five US (by Charmeur) and Blue Hors First Choice (by Jazz) make a good impression for Vurona. Blue Hors First Choice acts in addition to his breeding service at PSG/Inter I level. Four mares from Vurona compete at Z2 and ZZ Licht dressage. In addition to her breeding career, Vurona ran dressage at Z2 level, just like several of her brothers and sisters. Her half-brother Axel (by Sandreo) even made it to Grand Prix level.

A very interesting family, of which this embryo just might become the next success story!

Looking back at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag 2021

The 29e edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag was a very successful auction. Besides the fact that it was nice to be able to greet each other in person again, the foals were sold to full satisfaction. Auction chairman Arjan van der Waaij: 'We are very satisfied with the progress of the auction and had a fantastic evening. We hope, of course, that the buyers have great success with their purchases. References are very important to us as an auction. This allows us to underline our vision 'The Power of Performance'

The list of references has recently been supplemented with the approval at Studbook Zangersheide of Nostalgisch VDP (Heartbreaker x Quidam de Revel, bred by VDP Horses in Bathmen) and Kartouche (For Pleasure x Stakkato, bred by Mr. Nijhof from Haaksbergen) who successfully was in young horse classes under top rider Jérôme Guery.

Dressage foals

The average price for dressage foals was 13,000 euros, with the peak of the Dutch Champion Rosatrichta van de Westen (Le Formidable x Apache) bred by C. Kikkert from Den Burg. This fantastic filly came into the hands of Atze Hartog, who bought four striking foals in addition to Rosatrichta. 'Our goal is to buy foals with good movement, a good blood build-up and of course a correct veterinary report. After a good rearing and a fine training, it is the intention that Dominique Filion trains the horses properly for the ultimate sale. Although the temptation is always there not to sell a very good one to see where the adventure can end', says Atze Hartog. Besides Rosatrichta, Rainman Texel (Glock's Toto Jr. x Negro, breeder Stoeterij van der Linde, Texel), Res Non Verba (Le Formidable x Florencio, breeder Mrs. Lammertink, Lochem), Ralph Lauren (McLaren x Vitalis, breeder Mrs. Radstake , Voorst) and Rossi (Vivino x Apache, breeder Mr. Loeters, Didam) made their way to the stables of Mr Hartog. 'We clearly prefer the sport, but it is not inconceivable that we will take our chance at the stallion selection with a very good stallion. The purchased foals have now been delivered and we hope that they will all grow up healthy from toddlers to teenagers first.'

Texel

Two of the foals bought by Atze Hartog were born on Texel and may remain there for the time being. Wim van der Linde: 'Rosatrichta and the Rainman Texel, bred by us, are going into rearing with us. We did the same 3 years ago with Rainman's full sister, Nouvelle Feniz Texel, the auction topper at the time, and it went very well. We think it's nice that foals that represent such values can grow up in slightly smaller flocks.' This year, Van der Linde sold no fewer than three foals on Prinsjesdag. 'We are very satisfied with the auction. It is a lot of work for us to come over from Texel with three foals, but this has certainly been worth it. I think you can say that Prinsjesdag has the right clientele for our foals.', says Wim van der Linde.

Jumping foals

The price of the jumping foals is an average of 14,500 euros. The Sleutels van de Keystud family in Roggel saw their beautiful Ceasaria Key SR Z (Chacco Blue x Bentley van de Heffinck) – a filly from the famous Usha van 't Roosakker line – leave for France.

Mr. Sleutels: 'We sold four foals at the Prinsjesdag Auction this year and we are very satisfied with the result. Of the four, two go to Schockemöhle, so you know that if they stay healthy and do well, they will float to the surface again.'

Diarado & Dominator Z

One of the foals bred by Sleutels remains in the Netherlands and that is Dominator Z daughter Dominatrix Key SR Z (out of a dam of ET Cryoozootech out of the line of Querly Chin). For 32,000 euros, Stal Van der Haar from Terwolde can call itself the lucky buyer.

Barry van der Haar: 'We bought the Diarado daughter Roselina (Diarado x Emilion, breeder Mr. Lohuis, Nijverdal) and the Dominator. The Diarado wasn't actually planned, but my wife thought it was so beautiful when she entered the ring. That was a spontaneous action! I have already seen the Dominator as a young foal and I absolutely love it. I also find the father of the mother, the clone of Hugo Simon's topper ET, very interesting.' Van der Haar bought the fillies with a view to sport, but also for breeding. 'We have bought fillies at several auctions this year to increase our breeding. In addition, we bred seven foals ourselves this year. We have also sold a few of these foals bred by ourselves. We want to let the purchased foals exercise ourselves, preferably at the highest possible level. And who knows, beautiful foals will come out of the foals we have purchased, which we may then be able to sell through Foal Auction Prinsjesdag!' said Van der Haar.

Excellent collection Prinsjesdag online

They will be auctioned on Tuesday 21 September, 78 top foals that the selectors have carefully selected for you. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag sets the standard very high and the selected foals can therefore be seen as the cream of the crop. Just like last year, Prinsjesdag is lucky enough to receive visitors, so you can bid live and online.

Selector Fred van Straaten (together with Willem van Hoof responsible for the jumping foals): “We were able to select a fantastic collection of foals. As a buyer you are looking for security in a foal, you will find that in the genetics and the conformation and movements of the foal itself. Once again we managed to find foals that provide that certainty. By means of ICSI and embryo transplantation, genetically more beautiful material is becoming available, but buying an unborn foal naturally entails risk. With these foals we have the genetics and we can actually see that they are well put together. We are very happy that we have built such a relationship with top breeders that we can select such foals that have a story behind them. As an auction, I think we distinguish ourselves by the references we have built up over the years. We have sold a large number of top horses as foals and that says something!”

Dressage foals

Dressage selector Cas van der Oord and his colleague Lauw van Vliet were also looking for foals with a story. “For Prinsjesdag you want to select foals from special mare strains and we succeeded! Of course there are very interesting colts among them with a view to the stallion inspection. However, someone who is looking for something special to set up a breeding with has a number of very special fillies to choose from.” One of those fillies is Rosatrichta van de Westen, the national foal champion and daughter of Le Formidable. Revolution daughter Rumor Zenzi comes from the mother of the approved stallion Next Romancier and a stock full of sport. Roluciënne van Bordeaux comes from another top line, that of Davino and Ub 40. The beautiful Reya is a daughter of the brand new world champion Kjento out of the direct dam line of Painted Black and Premier.

Only outliers

“A good example is Rosy Murona, from one of the best Dutch dressage lineages, who is paired here with Feinrich. This half-brother of For Romance gave the champion of the Eilite selection in Rastede this year and the unusual mare Nizelle, who finished high at the NMK. With regard to the colts, it is fantastic that we can auction the full brother of Nouvelle Feniz Texel. The Franklin from the mother of Charlotte Fry's Dark Legend is very interesting as are the sons of Vivino and Mc Laren. This collection only has outliers!” said Van der Oord. Of course there is the possibility to contact one of the selectors if you would like more information about the foals. They can be reached via +31(0)35-2053035.

September 21

The foals will be auctioned on Tuesday 21 September at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. Interested parties can view the foals in the stable and possibly in motion on the street. Professional presenters will be present to guide this in the right direction for you. For online bidding you can register online at www.prinsjesdag.eu Here you can also order your VIP tickets and catalog and of course admire the entire collection!

The origin

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has been taking place in Ermelo for quite some time now. However, the origin of our auction is in North Holland and that is something we are proud of! Just like on all those top foals that we have auctioned over the years and have grown into world toppers. The criteria have been tightened up over the years. The amount of sport in the dam line has become increasingly important, although correctness and conformation still form the basis. This year the selection committee has again succeeded in selecting a unique group of foals.

We are looking forward to the photo/video days at MvM Horses on August 7 and 8, after which we can present the selection to you.

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag: Comme Il Faut son Comme D RH Z auction topper for 22,000 euros to Germany

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag kicked off its foal auction season today with an online auction; the Comme Il Faut son Comme D RH Z became the auction topper for 22,000 euros. This made the most expensive foal a jumping foal, but the dressage foals were particularly popular at the online edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag; with an average price of almost 10,000 euros and a top price of 15,000 euros, the dressage foals sold well across the board.

A Japanese investor, based in Germany, did very well at the May edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag; In addition to the Comme Il Faut x Dominator Z foal Comme D RH Z for 22,000 euros, this investor also purchased the Comme Il Faut son Charming Leva WD Z and the Dominator Z son Double Trouble RH Z. The jumping foals were eventually sold for an average price of almost 9,500 euros.

The dressage foals were extra popular tonight; of the twelve dressage foals, six were sold for 10,000 euros or more. The Dutch buyers struck a chord; the So Perfect daughter Riva-Noeska became the most expensive of the dressage collection for 15,000 euros. The Totilas son Roaring Spring SSS also remains in the Netherlands and yielded 13,000 euros. Furthermore, the Johnny Depp son Riverdale SQBS went for 12,000 euros, the Fontaine TN son Robinson for 11,000 euros and the For Ferrero son Revano and First Date daughter Ruby VDV for 10,000 euros.

20 of the 22 foals found a new owner through Foal Auction Prinsjesdag; therefore the sales percentage is high on this online edition. “We were able to welcome many new buyers and bidders to this online edition,” said chairman Arjan van der Waaij. “It is great that we are able to reach a larger buyer audience. We think we have taken another step in the right direction, especially with the dressage foals and we are really looking forward to the auction days in September.”

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag starts season with embryo auction

Start of 2021

In the current, uncertain times, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag likes to think in solutions and possibilities to serve both the breeders and the regular customer base. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will therefore be auctioning online again this year in addition to a hybrid auction. Besides an online auction on March 2nd for interesting embryos, there will be an early foal auction on May 18th. In addition, Prinsjesdag will be present during the beautiful competition of the Schuttert family in Ommen on 10 July. Finally, the hybrid auction is scheduled for 14 and 15 September. You can now register your breeding product for both the early foal and embryo auctions!

Auction of pregnancy

The first online auction is scheduled for Tuesday 2 March. In this auction some genetically very interesting dressage and jumping embryos and pregnancies will be sold. Selector Fred van Straaten, together with Willem van Hoof responsible for the jumping foals: “We will be selling pregnancies for the first time this year, so foals that simply sit in their own mare and remain with the breeder until weaning. The advantage of this is that there is no hassle of bringing surrogate mares back and forth, etc. You can see it as an extra service to the buyers.” Van Straaten hopes to be able to select from the large customer base: “If you look at our references, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has produced many sport horses. So it turns out our breeders know what they are doing!”

Early Foal Auction

Another service is the early online foal auction on May 18. Dressage foal selector Cas van der Oord explains: “Dressage and show jumping foals born in February, or even January, are difficult to select for an auction in September. By then they are half yearlings and not at their most commercial. That is why we offer the possibility to auction these foals online in May, so that breeders still have the opportunity to sell their breeding products well.” Together with Lauw van Vliet, Cas is responsible for the dressage foals to be selected.

Power of performance

As is now known, Prinsjesdag uses the adage “Power of Performance”, which means that the breeding products to be auctioned descend from mares that have competed in sport themselves, have given sport or come from dam lines. who have delivered extraordinary performances. Do you expect a foal from a mare that meets these criteria or do you have an (icsi) embryo that is interesting for the Prinsjesdag auction? Then you can give it up for the embryo or foal auction via the registration form on the Prinsjesdag website: www.prinsjesdag.eu

Fred van Straaten: “With this group of fillies you are investing in the future”

Prinsjesdag selector Fred van Straaten is full of expectations for the annual foal auction next Tuesday, September 15 in Ermelo. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will auction 62 dressage and jumping foals both live and online from 2 pm; show jumping selector Fred van Straaten explains in particular the group of fillies.

“We have selected a nice number of interesting fillies for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag”, begins Fred van Straaten. “With this group of fillies you are investing in the future. As a two- or three-year-old you can already start using these mares for breeding and they can earn back the investment. This way you can immediately get a return on your investment and you can have a good sport horse at a later age.”

Fred van Straaten runs through the twelve fillies one by one:

Pixiedette S (Aganix du Seigneur x Clarimo x Voltaire):
“First of all, we bred the Aganix du Seigneur daughter from the Lupicor line. A striking foal that can perform and has a strong hind leg. A typical Aganix offspring and that is a real stallion to use; it gives attitude and strong sports bodies.”

Amanda-K van Kattenheye Z (Amadeo van 't Vossenhof x Zirocco Blue VDL x Corland):
“Father Amadeo is a young, promising stallion who has shown himself very well in the Belgian stallion competition. The dam of this foal Zoe-K van 't Kattenheye was recently at the top of the Belgian Cycle for five-year-olds under Tim van den Broeck and this is also the stock of Carthago. Definitely interesting!”

Andiamo Fee Z (Andiamo Semilly x I'm Special de Muze x Quasimodo Z):
“A foal with a nice print and a good way of cantering – really electric in his body. She also has a nice blood build with I'm Special de Muze on the mother's side; I'm Special is starting to break through with his offspring. Then Quasimodo Z who has fully proven himself and then from such a strong Dutch stock.”

Chardonnay van Kattenheye Z (Chacfly PS x Nabab de Rêve x Marius Claudius):
“Chacfly can sometimes take over from his sire Chacco Blue, so a daughter of this stallion is certainly interesting. In addition, this foal goes back to the Grand Prix mare Sea Coast Ferly; this Qerly Chin strain provides a lot of security for the future.”

Chic Future RL Z (Cornet Obolensky x Cartano x Galoubet A):
“This Cornet Obolensky foal is well put together; a beautiful foal. She also comes from a good stock. Mother jumped in the sport herself and already gave in an international show jumper and grandmother gave two Grand Prix show jumpers.”

El Paso Z (El Barone 111 Z x Calvaro Z x Capitol I):
“El Barone is a very special stallion; if you see him jumping again recently in Valkenswaard, just after such a busy breeding season. This is a very interesting foal straight out of the top mare Capitola Z, who has produced many good horses over the years.”

Philadelphia V (El Barone 111 Z x Eldorado van de Hexagon TN x Lux Z):
“This dam line has already produced many serious sport horses; the dam and grandmother of this foal both jumped well in sport. The mare Bermuda forms the basis of many international show jumpers. In addition, this is an elegant foal that can walk easily.”

Havanna Z (Halifax van het Kluizebos x Sandro Boy x Chellano Z):
“We have successfully auctioned foals from this line before. This line of Larthago has been amply proven and that is not only because of Larthago itself. Sandro Girl Z, the dam of this foal, also produced a number of excellent sport horses. There is enough to say about this dam line!”

Ulise van 't Merelsnest (Kasanova de la Pomme x Mr. Blue x Voltaire):
“With this filly, the upcoming stallion Kasanova de la Pomme is paired with the top line of the Van Bunder family; the strain of Sapphire and VDL Glasgow van 't Merelsnest. Kasanova de la Pomme is living up to it in sport and breeding – that stallion is really coming.”

Kato vh Gebergte Z (Kazan Z x Numero Uno x Lys de Darmen):
“A very tough foal with a strong body and a super canter. A really special foal from a very special tribe; this Van 't Heike line gives sports on all sides. Sire Kazan Z is still a young stallion, but with his pedigree he does have the potential to become a top stallion.”

On Fire vd Berghoeve Z (O'Neill van 't Eigenlo x Kassander van 't Roosakker x For Pleasure):
“This is perhaps one of the most interesting fillies. If you look at this blood structure with the upcoming breeding stallions O'Neill and Kassander and then proven stallions and mares who have really proven it themselves. Grandmother jumps Grand Prix and great-grandmother is the former World Champion Liscalgot – talking about attitude and hardness. In addition, this foal is extra interesting because of the strong Irish dam line; different blood, but proven.”

Quality of Darena WD Z (Quabri de L'isle x Celano x Farmer):
“Nice gesture from the Dekker family to make this foal available for charity. Immediately a striking foal with his special markings and good way of moving. Sire Quabri de l'Isle is one of the best sport stallions of recent years.”

This Friday the bidding can start

This Friday 17 July from 12 noon you can bid on the ten jumping and seven dressage foals that together form the promising collection of the second online auction of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. On behalf of the selection committees, Jacques Verkerk and Fred van Straaten express their confidence in this strong group of foals.

The foal will be auctioned live on Tuesday 21 July from 7.30 pm and this online auction can be followed via ClipMyHorse and the livestream on the website of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. You can register to bid in this auction via this link. (https://online.prinsjesdag.eu/register)

Dressage foals

“We were able to select seven dressage foals with very varied bloodlines for this July auction,” says Jacques Verkerk, who is responsible for the dressage selection together with Lauw van Vliet. “They are all foals with a great future ahead of them. Such as the Blue Hors Zackerey daughter Pursuit of Happiness, who moves with just as strong hind leg use as her sire and has won the online Blue Hors Foal Championship. The powerfully moving Le Formidable daughter Pendilia SIH is also a very spectacular moving filly. The filly Piacenza G is perhaps the most beautiful foal of Jameson RS2 of the entire season and she moves with a very good technique. A very athletic foal is the light-footed, uphill moving Fürstenball daughter Pyria SC.

The fifth filly from this collection is Petronella van de Moerhoek, a well-developed daughter of Lennox US who moves with a lot of front and power.” The colts Patser Buitenrust (by Glock's Toto Jr.) and Panamera (by Imposantos) complete the collection. “The Toto Jr. son is a very complete colt with a really good way of moving, a lot of power and he comes from a good sport line. Panamera is bred out of the full sister of High Five US and has three good basic gaits and moves with great ease.”

Jumping foals

Fred van Straaten is also delighted with the show jumping collection. “Of course the pedigree is important for the jumping foals, but the foal itself must also meet the highest standards and be athletic. For example, we are very happy to have a striking colt from the first crop of the top performing stallion All Star 5, with a good canter and dam line. Prime Minister is also a special foal, a son of Camargo out of a strong line. Udarcaheart-M offers the opportunity to purchase one of the last, modern Darco daughters. The Diamant de Semilly daughter Pearle W has a grandmother and great-granddam who both already produced Grand Prix horses and is therefore also interesting for sport and breeding”, Van Straaten sums up.

“That certainly also applies to Perla AASJ, a daughter of Diarado with the famous mare Fragance de Chalus in the third generation. A striking colt is DC Balou, descended from the successful Diaron, who also has a lot of sport at the front of the line. Then we have F-Marit VHS Z, a daughter of Falaise de Muze out of the full sister of the Grand Prix stallion Zèlote VDL. The colt Joker Z descends from the progenitor Jenson van 't Meulenhof in the making and goes back in the third generation to the Grand Prix mare Sea Coast Ferly. The blood-bred, good canter Leandro VG son Ulandro Touch JT is also a very special foal and with an extremely proven pedigree, the sporty Verdi son Picolot W also has a great future.”

Investing online in the future

The first online auction of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag 2020 will take place on Tuesday 16 June. From Friday 12 June it is possible to bid online on the ten jumping and seven dressage foals that together form the auction collection. All necessary information about the foals can now be found online on our website, where potential buyers can register from now on to be able to make a bid later.

The foals can be bid via the WeAuction auction system from Friday 12 June. We will go live on Tuesday, June 16 at 7.30 pm, where Peter van der Waaij will receive the last bids live on behalf of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag as auctioneer and drop the last hammer blow. The live online auction of the dressage foals will start at 9 pm. The foals have been extensively captured by means of photos and videos. In addition, because it concerns an online auction, images have also been made of the clinical examination and, of course, the inspection reports can be viewed on the website. Interested parties can register on the website until June 16 to gain access to the bidding system.

Top talents in first online auction

The first online auction of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will take place on Tuesday, June 16, in which ten jumping and seven dressage foals will be auctioned. On behalf of the selection committees, Willem van Hoof and Lauw van Vliet express their confidence in this exclusive group of foals.

To facilitate both the international customer base and the loyal breeders, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is organizing several online auctions this summer, each containing a maximum of ten foals per breeding direction. An impressive collection has been put together for the first edition on Tuesday 16 June, in which the foals are knocked out live.

Movement miracles
“We have set the bar very high and have all been able to select very interesting dressage foals”, says Lauw van Vliet, who is responsible for the selection of the dressage foals together with Jacques Verkerk. “In that respect, it's actually a shame that this is an online auction, because this caliber of foals would undoubtedly have caused a lot of action at a physical auction. We were very critical and as a result we ended up with seven foals, partly because we had to appoint a number of absolute eye-catchers for the next auction in July, because they were still a bit on the young side for this auction. The seven foals that will be auctioned in June are convincing with their type, uphill movements and pedigree. There are also absolute opportunities for stallion rearing!” Champion stallion Le Formidable has two black future talents in the collection.

Proven Performance Genes
Willem van Hoof, together with Fred van Straaten, was able to select ten top talents in the jumping direction. Each one with a pedigree that every jumping horse lover is excited about. “We immediately set the bar high for this first auction, as one would expect from Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. They are ten striking foals with a lot of sport in the first generations and mainly proven sires in the pedigree. We made the first selection based on pedigree and because we had a good and large supply, we were able to make a tight selection," explains Willem van Hoof. “Prinsjesdag Foal Auction aims for the best and this is no different with these online auctions. We are very satisfied with this first collection with several highlights.” The full collection can now be found on our website.
