Matches Olympic finalists and Prinsjesdag collection striking

The bloodlines of the Olympic finalists in show jumping in Rio de Janeiro and the auction collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag have many similarities. For example, Prinsjesdag offers a colt out of the three-quarter sister of Dejavu (Bassem Hassan Mohammed), a filly out of the half-sister of Emerald (Harrie Smolders) and a colt out of the direct line of Bonne Chance CW (Janika Sprunger).

The colt foal Qui a Vu van 't Merelsnest is a genetically very striking specimen. His sire Vigo d'Arsouilles was the 2010 World Champion under Philippe Le Jeune and his dam is Lacoste van de Bucxtale – a daughter of the Heartbreaker son Zambesi. This makes Lacoste a three-quarter sister of the Heartbreaker son Dejavu, who convincingly qualified for the individual final of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro under Bassem Hassan Mohammed. Olympian Zilverstar T (Nicola Philippaerts) also comes from this direct dam line.
The filly is also unique quartina DC – a daughter of the foundation sire Comme Il Faut out of the Nabab de Rêve daughter Intense van 't Meulenhof. The mother of Quartina DC is none other than the half-sister of Emerald, who will compete with Harrie Smolders for individual medal of honor on Friday.
Levisto Blue RV Z is a colt by Levisto Z x Mr. Blue and is closely related to Janika Sprunger's topper Bonne Chance CW – also auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Levisto Blue's great-granddam Kalista – full sister of Audi's Jikke – is the granddam of Bonne Chance CW, who also qualified for the individual final. Unfortunately, Bonne Chance CW will not be allowed to start as three other Swiss riders were also qualified. According to the regulations, only three combinations per country are allowed to start in the final.

In addition, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag selected two offspring of Olympic finalists. The colt foal Vegas is a son of Maikel van der Vleutens two-time Olympian Verdi out of a Heartbreaker dam. Although things did not go as hoped for the Dutch team, Maikel van der Vleuten and Verdi did not miss a beat. With only two time errors, the foundation sire Verdi qualified for the Olympic final. Four years ago in London, Verdi also entered the last day without jumping errors. A very special colt is also Quest SZ – one of the very few descendants of the high-profile Quabri de l'Isle. The beautiful dark chestnut of Pedro Veniss jumped phenomenal every day in Rio and convincingly qualified for the battle for the individual medals.

With three offspring in the individual final, Cornet Obolensky and Kannan are the main suppliers in Rio de Janeiro. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag offers no fewer than five foals from Cornet Obolensky and two direct offspring from Kannan. Kannan is also represented several times in the dam line of the Prinsjesdag foals. In Barron (Lucy Davis) and Fit For Fun (Luciana Diniz) For Pleasure produces two direct offspring for the final and with Fine Lady (Eric Lamaze), First Choice (Yann Candele) and Fibonacci (Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum) three grandchildren. Prinsjesdag has included no fewer than four direct descendants of the legendary For Pleasure in its collection.

Emerald embryo from Tequila van Spieveld sold to Monaco

The exceptional embryo of Harrie Smolders' Olympian Emerald out of the top mare Tequila van Spieveld has been sold via Embryoauction.com to Team VDW Monte Carlo from Monaco. The half-sibling of, among others, Echo van 't Spieveld was turned down online for a nice amount of 17,000 euros.

Basson van der Westhuizen is the proud new owner of the embryo. “We are very excited about this purchase. It's a long-term investment, but we hope it pays off in the end. It would be wonderful if this embryo becomes as good as the siblings!”

The South African who lives in Monaco is also a breeder of sport horses. “In Argentina we have a breeding farm for warmbloods, but because the import legislation is quite strict there, you are limited with your breeding choices. That is why we now want to set up more breeding in Europe.” The ultimate goal with this exclusive embryo is the sport. “If all goes well, we hope that this Embro will grow into a good sport horse. In any case, we leave him or her in professional hands in Belgium or France," emphasizes Basson van der Westhuizen.

Bonne Chance CW and Janika Sprunger reserve for Rio

After last season's very good performances, Janika Sprunger and Bonne Chance CW have been designated as reserve combination for Switzerland at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro next month. The ten-year-old Baloubet du Rouet mare Bonne Chance CW was auctioned in 2006 at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag.

For a long time it looked as though Bonne Chance CW and Janika Sprunger would be part of the Swiss base team, but Chef d'Equipe Andy Kistler has chosen Steve Guerdat, Martin Fuchs, Paul Estermann and Romain Duguet as his first four riders .

Prinsjesdag collection 2016 fully related to Olympic horses for Rio de Janeiro

The Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro are approaching and the list of participants is starting to become more and more clear. And this also makes it increasingly clear that the collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag 2016 is exceptionally often related to the Olympic horses for Rio!

Last Sunday the Dutch dressage team for Rio de Janeiro was announced: Glock's Johnson NOP, Glock's Voice, Jerich Parzival NOP and Arlando NOP will represent the Netherlands at the Olympics.
It is striking that Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has selected no fewer than seven (!) foals from medal candidate Glock's Johnson for the auction in Ermelo on Wednesday 14 September. Five very interesting colts and two high-quality fillies by Johnson are in the collection, of which Johnson has been combined three times with a Rousseau mare. The dam line of Jerich Parzival NOP is again represented via La Baule-STRH. This Millenium x Zhivago colt has the famous mare Orleans – the full sister of Jerich Parzival – as grandmother.
Johnson

However, the Prinsjesdag foals are not only related to the Dutch Olympic dressage horses. The German Olympiad horse Desperados FRH is represented both by two direct sons in the auction collection and by the filly Latinmusik KL – a Le Vivaldi out of Desperados' half-sister. The Swedish Olympiad horse in the making Dante Weltino also has two colts in the auction.
The genes of reigning Olympic champion Valegro can also be found in the Prinsjesdag auction collection via sire Negro. Two Negro colts and two fillies will be auctioned in September.
Desperados

The Dutch showjumping team consists of SFN Zenith NOP, Emerald NOP, VDL Zirocco Blue NOP and VDL Groep Verdi TN NOP and the Prinsjesdag foals show plenty of kinship with these too. The impressive Zirocco Blue has a stallion and a filly in the collection and the topper Verdi also has a son in the auction. Perhaps the most striking Rio-related foal is Quartina DC – a filly by Comme Il Faut out of the half-sister of eye-catcher Emerald NOP
Also worth mentioning are the three descendants of Quickly de Kreisker, who will go to the Olympic Games for Morocco. Also unique is the colt of the Brazilian celebrity Quabri de l'Isle – the Kannan son of whom only a few foals are born each year. A filly by Hardrock Z, who will most likely go to Rio for Venezuela, is also included in the collection.
Emerald

Cornet Obolensky and For Pleasure are the main suppliers for the Olympic Games in Rio next month and several foals of these foundation stallions have also been included in the Prinsjesdag collection. Cornet Obolensky has three sons and two daughters in the auction and For Pleasure is represented by three sons and one daughter in the collection.

Arc de Triomphe, Gigolo III and Costa Date deliver strong international performance

Last weekend, the horses Arc de Triomphe, Gigolo III and Costa Date, auctioned at the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction, jumped to good international rankings. Arc de Triomphe (Triomphe de Muze x Calvados) under Frank Schuttert showed good things at the beautiful youth competition at the Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard, while Gigolo III (Cassini II x Chin Chin) under Rachel Sandoz and Costa Date (Vingino x Quidam de Revel) under Hannah Selleck started in Knokke.

Frank Schuttert and Arc de Triomphe concluded their excellent weekend in Valkenswaard with a nice fourth place in the U25 1,40m on Sunday afternoon. Swiss rider Rachel Sandoz also finished fourth last weekend with Gigolo III. At Knokke Hippique in the CS2* 1.45m class for Amazons only, Rachel Sandoz and Gigolo III finished in fourth place.

American rider Hannah Selleck secured a victory with Costa Date. Selleck recently took over the nine-year-old gray from Mexican Juan Pablo Gaspar Albañez and immediately jumped to first place in Knokke in a two-star 1.40m class.
