PRINCESS DAY BREEDERS OF THE YEAR 2015
As is customary, the Breeders of the Year are honored every year on the third Tuesday of September. This year's title was awarded for the first time this year to a dressage foal and a showjumping foal breeder. The Temmink family from Vorden received the Dressage Horse Breeder's prize for having bred Boston STH who simply shone under Denise Nekeman, both at the NC and EC Young Riders. This impressive stallion was sold at the 2006 Prinsjesdag Auction and opened this year's dressage foal auction. The Prinsjesdag title for Showjumping Horse Breeder of the Year was awarded to the Van Loon family from Hooge Mierde. They had also presented a foal in 2006, namely Bonne Chance, the Baloubet daughter that won bronze at last summer's EC in Aachen under the Swiss Janika Sprunger and since wrote three Grand Prix to her name. Congratulated!

PRINCESS DAY AND THE POWER OF PERFORMANCE
The 2015 edition of Prinsjesdag Foal Auction has entered history as a very special one, where 39 dressage foals and 50 showjumping foals were knocked down by the new auctioneer Koen Olaerts. And again in a new layout, where the corner men were standing outside the ring and the breeders on the short side could watch their products being sold, and again all records were broken. Two years after Prinsjesdag saw the total sales rise abo0ve the 1 million euro for the first time, this year's auction generated the highest average sales price in the showjumping foals category, namely €14,530. And also the dressage foals fetched good money with an average sales price of €11,000.

However, the price is not a priority for Prinsjesdag. The price should be a reflection of the quality and in that respect Prinsjesdag wants to play a pioneering role. In 2003 we intentionally chose the Power of Performance to be our objective. Now, 12 years later, this motto of Prinsjesdag becomes more fitting than ever before. Breeding techniques and embryo transplantation and ICSI, as well as the super fast internationalization of breeding give the idea of performance breeding a new content. There are a lot of newcomers in the sales market of foals that are willing to pay a good price for top-class material. It is up to the European top-class breeders to meet this demand.

Another interesting development is the growing interest of the riders for foals. As it keeps getting harder to get hold of well trained young horses, riders are showing more interest in acquiring foals with a high expectation value.

The record breaking results of the last auction are not a random incident according to the organization of Prinsjesdag. The explicit focus on performance introduced 12 years ago was a significant sign. Since then further initiatives were taken for the flourish of this auction. For example, after several years of modest results on the dressage side, the quality standards of the dressage collection have risen sharply. This year's collection of dressage foals was considered very good by experts in the field. Another policy was to look further ahead than just the Netherlands. The offer in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Ireland, for example, is seriously looked into and assessed. And only when they are up to the quality standards of Prinsjesdag, will they be selected. In addition, Prinsjesdag does not want to be restricted to any studbook or breeding region; all the breeders who invest in top-class material are very welcome to show their products.

Prinsjesdag considers its relationship with the breeders to be curcial for the success of the auction: breeders have to sell their foals and Prinsjesdag needs foals for its auction. By co-operating, you can be more successful. Prinsjesdag deeply appreciates the loyalty of the breeders and is prepared to also invest in that relationship. That is why last year the breeders stands were upgraded so that the auction's sellers have a place for themselves during the auction.

In the years to come Prinsjesdag will continue its quest for quality, both for the foal auction on the third Tuesday of September and for the embryo's marketed online at www.embryoauction.com† Also in 2016 Prinsjesdag Foal Auction will take place on the third Tuesday of September, the 21st, at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. Anyone who already wants to enter any foals (expected in 2016) can download their entry form via the website www.prinsjesdag.eu.

PRINCESS DAY BREEDERS OF THE YEAR 2015
As usual, the Prinsjesdag Breeders of the Year are honored on the third Tuesday of September every year. This year, for the first time, that title was awarded to a dressage breeder and a show jumping breeder. The Temmink family from Vorden was awarded the prize for breeding Boston STH who shone under Denise Nekeman at both the Dutch National Championships and European Championships for Young Riders. The impressive stallion was sold during Prinsjesdag in 2006 and this year opened the dressage auction in the afternoon. The jumping title of Prinsjesdag Breeder of the Year went to the Van Loon family from Hooge Mierde. They also brought in a foal in 2006, Bonne Chance, the Baloubet mare who won bronze at the European Championships in Aachen last summer with the Swiss Janika Sprunger and who won three Grand Prix. Congratulations!

PRINCESS DAY AND THE POWER OF PERFORMANCE
Foal Auction Prinsjesdag 2015 will go down in history as a special edition. 39 dressage foals and 50 jumping foals were auctioned by the new auctioneer Koen Olaerts. All records were broken with another new set-up, with the corner men standing outside the ring and the breeders on the short side able to follow the sales of their products. Two years after Prinsjesdag saw the total turnover rise above 1 million euros for the first time, the auction recorded the highest average sales proceeds for the jumping foals this year, namely € 14,530. And the dressage foals also fetched a good price on average with € 11,000.

However, the price in itself is not an end in itself for Prinsjesdag. The price should be a reflection of the quality. And in that respect, Prinsjesdag would like to play a pioneering role. In 2003 a conscious choice was made for The Power of Performance. Now 12 years later, that motto of Prinsjesdag is more applicable than ever before. Breeding techniques such as embryo transfer and ICSI, and the rapid internationalization of breeding, give new meaning to the concept of performance breeding. There are many new entrants to the foal buyer's market who are willing to pay a good price for top material. It is up to Europe's top breeders to meet this demand.

Another interesting development is the increased interest of riders in foals. The more difficult it becomes to find well-trained young horses, the more riders seem to be interested in high-expectation foals.

Last week's top auction is not a one-off incident for the organization of Prinsjesdag. The explicit choice for achievement 12 years ago has been a very clear one. But even after that, there have been numerous initiatives to allow the auction to grow further. For example, after a few lean dressage years, an explicit choice was made to increase the quality of the dressage collection. This year there was a collection of dressage foals that were described as very good by the experts. It is also a conscious choice to look further than the Netherlands is large. Offers in Belgium, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Denmark and Ireland, for example, are being viewed and assessed. And if it fits in with the quality standards of Prinsjesdag, selected. Also, as far as Prinsjesdag is concerned, there are no restrictions in terms of studbook or breeding area: breeders who invest in top material are always welcome with their products.

Furthermore, Prinsjesdag considers the relationship with breeders to be decisive for the success of the auction: breeders still have sales for their foals, and Prinsjesdag needs foals to be auctioned. If you work together you can be successful. Prinsjesdag needs the loyalty of breeders, and is also willing to invest in that relationship. For example, last year it was decided to build the breeders' stand where the entrants have their own place during the auction.

For the coming years, Prinsjesdag will continue the pursuit of quality. For the foal auction on the third Tuesday of September and of course to market embryos online via www.embryoauction.com† In 2016 Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will take place on Tuesday 21 September in the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo. If you already want to register your foal(s) (expected in 2016), you can download a registration form via the website www.prinsjesdag.eu.

Half-brother Prinsjesdag foal world champion Lanaken

LANAKEN – The five-year-old Kerswin van 't Roosakker (Echo van Spieveld x Diamant de Semilly) proved once again in Lanaken that Prinsjesdag Foal Auction makes the world's best bloodlines available to the buyers' public. Under Doron Kuipers, the extremely talented son of top mare Hiamant van 't Roosakker jumped to the world title in the five-year-old class. Kerswin is the half-brother of the top foal Vivant Hero Z (s. Vivald'Ick) that was recently auctioned at Prinsjesdag.

The new owners of Vivant Hero Z, which stems from the world famous line of Usha van 't Roosakker, have therefore owned the half-brother of a world champion since the World Championships in Lanaken. The five-year-old Kerswin van 't Roosakker jumped very convincingly under Doron Kuipers to the world title in the five-year-olds. Who knows where Vivant Hero Z will be in a few years' time! Another confirmation of the motto of Prinsjesdag: the Power of Performance!

In Lanaken the five year old Kerswin van 't Roosakker (Echo van Spieveld x Diamant de Semilly) proved Foal Auction Prinsjesdag offers foals out of world's best damlines. Ridden by Doron Kuipers the highly talented Kerswin van 't Roosakker became world champion of the five year old show jumpers in Lanaken. Kerswin van 't Roosakker is the half-brother of the Prinsjesdag 2015 sold colt Vivant Hero Z (Vivald'Ick x Diamant de Semilly), both bred out of the top broodmare Hiamant van 't Roosakker! The Power of Performance!

THE FULL BROTHER OR SISTER OF CHRISTIAN AHLMANN'S WONDERHORSE CASUALITY Z

After the fantastic success of Prinsjesdag Foal Auction last Tuesday www.embryoauction.com has similar top-class material to offer via the online platform. Last week we already gave a detailed description of the first dressage horse embryos, including the current sale of an embryo by Fürstenball out of Edward Gal's former top-class mare Sisther de Jeu. In the showjumping direction a similarly interesting embryo is for sale this week, namely a Cassini II out of Curioso Z. This is the full brother or sister of twofold reserve World Champion Casuality Z from Christiann Ahlmann.

This gray stallion was winner of two silver medals in the World Championships for 5- and 7-yr-old showjumping horses in Lanaken. This year, at CHIO Aachen, he finished first and third under Christian Ahlmann in the Youngster Tour. At CSIO5* Sankt Gallen Casuality, only an 8-yr-old, made his debut at 1.50m level and finished third. In the last edition of Aachen Casuality Z was for the first time started by Judy Ann Melchior. Rider and horse have meanwhile developed such a good tie that next week the Belgian lady rider will start Casuality at CSIO-5* in Barcelona.

Sire Cassini II, who died in 2011, is a true match in breeding for his 'big brother' Cassini I. He produced numerous licensed stallions and international showjumping horses. Dam Curioso Z (Chellano Z) is a half-sister to the 1.45m level showjumping horse Carige (Cassini I) and the 1.35m level placed Gentleman (Guidam). Grandam Ocay (Cambridge) is the half-sister of the 1.60m level showjumping horses Restless and Catija ET Z.

Further showjumping embryos to be auctioned in the next few weeks:
– Embryo with all the gene material of Kannan, the number 1 on the WBFSHS Sire Ranking.
– Embryo from European Champion Zirocco Blue x Diamant de Semilly out of the powerful Karla family.
– Embryo from World Champion Vigo d'Arsouilles out of Curioso Z, dam of Christian Ahlmann's wonder horse Casuality Z.

If you are interested, you can register free of charge at www.embryoauction.com. You can also state that you want to be informed of all new offers. If you have any questions, please mail to info@embryoauction.com or call +31-(0)342440100.

THE FULL BROTHER OR SISTER OF CHRISTIAN AHLMANN'S WONDER HORSE CASUALITY Z

After the fantastic success of Prinsjesdag last Tuesday, www.embryoauction.com comparable top material via the online platform in the coming weeks. Last week we extensively discussed the first dressage embryos, including the currently ongoing auction of an embryo by Fürstenball out of Edward Gal's former top mare Sisther de Jeu. In the jumping direction, a similarly interesting embryo is up for auction this week, namely a Cassini II out of Curios Z. Or the full brother or sister of two-time reserve world champion Casuality Z ridden by Christiann Ahlmann.

The gray stallion has won two silver medals at the World Championships for five- and seven-year-old show jumpers in Lanaken. At CHIO Aachen this year he finished first and third in the Youngster Tour with Christian Ahlmann. At CSIO5* Sankt Gallen, Casuality made his debut at the age of eight in the 1.50m and came third. Last edition of Aachen, Casuality Z appeared for the first time with Judy Ann Melchior. Rider and horse have become so attuned to each other that the Belgian rider will take Casuality to CSIO-5* in Barcelona next week.

Sire Cassini II, who passed away in 2011, is as good as his 'big brother' Cassini I in breeding. He produced numerous approved stallions and international show jumpers. Dam Curioso Z (Chellano Z) is a half sister of the 1.45m show jumper Carige (Cassini I) and the 1.35m classified Gentleman (Guidam). Granddam Ocay (Cambridge) is known as a half sister of the 1.60m show jumpers Restless and Catija ET Z.

6,200 euros for DVB Foundation

During the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag 2015, the DVB Foundation was pleased to receive a check for 6,200 euros that will benefit riders with a disability.

After Lance Nekeman had left 2,400 euros for a sen magnum bottle of champagne, Gerrit Deen, co-founder of the foal auction, offered a curly mini foal for 1,600 euros to put it back in the auction a little later for charity. Siem Kat then bought the horse for 2,200 euros.

Prinsjesdag foal auction crushes all records

[PRESS RELEASE] At the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, it has once again become apparent that foals with a high expected value due to their excellent pedigrees are attracting a lot of attention. The auction broke all records and will go down in the books as the most successful foal auction in the Netherlands. The average price of the dressage foals was 11,000 euros, the average price of the jumping foals was 14,530 euros and a total of 89 were sold for 1,155,500 euros.

The prize winner with 42,000 euros is Pharao van de Bisschop (Quickly de Kreisker x Heartbreaker), who was bought by Anna Gkouskova, the sponsor of the Greek Grand Prix rider André Sakakini. And that while she actually came to Ermelo for two other foals. Pharao is a very interesting chestnut stallion out of Indra van den Bisschop, the full sister of Dulf and Holland van den Bisschop and the Grand Prix show jumper Audi's Estina.

Gkouskova invested in five very popular foals, which together cost 160,000 euros. Sakakini made the bids. “I prefer to be in the background myself. We actually came for Chupa Chup and Caesar, but I also got a very good feeling with the other three”, says the Russian interior designer who jumps up to 1.50m level and owned Ludger Beerbaum's top horse Chiara. The foals will grow up in Niedersachsen, Germany, where Gkouskova bought the accommodation from show jumping rider Herman Heinrich-Engemann and will open shortly after four years of restoration work.

The gorgeous Chupa Chup (Casall x Cassini) from breeder WW Stables from Meijel and Caesar (Cornet Obolensky x Kannan) from breeders B. Vink and MP Helsloot from IJsselstein both fetched 28,000 euros. For 30,000 euros Anna Gkouskova bought the colt Poseidon van de Molendreef (Comme Il Faut x Casco) from breeders AC Roegiers in Evergem (B.) and for C-We did it Z (Cumano x Animo) from breeder Kees Klaver she had 32,000 euros about.

Breeder Martien van de Bruggen received 40,000 euros for Kalista (F One USA x Carthago Z), which was bought by Kim Kristensen over the phone. This Danish rider already owns Kalista's Studbook Zangersheide-approved half-brother Dimitri Z (by Diarado) and wanted to get his hands on this filly with all his might. Kalista comes out of the fantastic breeding international jumping mare Larthago, who is also known as the dam of the Grand Prix show jumping stallions Harley VDL and Cevin Z.

Pomeline van de Bisschop (Denzel van 't Meulenhof x Tornado) was sold for 30,000 euros and Korinchidee DN (Etoulon VDL x Chin Chin) for 24,000 euros. Two foals raised 22,000 euros, of which Klarimo (Clarimo x Heartbreaker) goes to Paul Schockemöhle and Pavalensky van de Dreef (Cornet Obolensky x Lord Z) to the Spanish top rider Sergio Alvarez Moya. The mare Levita (Levisto Z x Baloubet du Rouet) sold for 18,000 euros is now in the possession of Mrs Keppel from St.Anna Pavlovna.

Kayne for 38,000 euros
In the dressage foals, Kayne (by Governor) was the most expensive foal sold with 38,000 euros. New owners are Gerard Korbeld, the owner of Governor, and dressage rider Adelinde Cornelissen, who has the stallion in training.

Korbeld considers himself lucky with the fantastically moving colt out of the ZZ-light dressage mare Adorijke (Rousseau x Krack C) ridden by L. Bennink from Zevenhuizen. “I came specifically for this foal,” he says. “As the owner of Governor I would of course very much like to buy a separate foal from him and my eye was on these. A foal has to appeal to me immediately and this one did. Beforehand I went to see the breeder. It's nice to see them in peace, although I have to say that this one showed itself fantastic again today."

Adelinde Cornelissen can't wait to have Kayne under the saddle soon. She is very enthusiastic about Governor, the son of Totilas out of the full sister of her topper Jerich Parzival. “Maybe we didn't compete at the top in the Pavo Cup, I think it's one for the highest work”, she enthuses.

The second most expensive foal with 30,000 euros was Kanjer DDH (Glamourdale x De Niro, breeder Dekstation De Havikerwaard), bought by Saskia Lemmens from Bergharen. With 28,000 euros, Kagan ter Selle (El Capone x Ferro, breeder N. Gunter from Peer) was one of the top three most expensive dressage foals sold and he is leaving for Stal Het Haarbosch owned by Louis Röst. King of Power SQBS (Fellini x Uphill, breeder H.MC.H. Spierings from Evertsoord) has been purchased by Nico Witte and Tim Collins for 24,000 euros.

'Not normal'
Chris van Dam on behalf of organization agency EQ International calls the auction's turnover 'not normal'. “If we had an average price of 10,000 we were already satisfied, 11,000 would be very good and anything above that is not normal. It is a reward for everyone who has worked so hard for this, although this success does not come out of the blue. We have been hunting all year round for the best foal material and over the years we have gained the trust of the very best breeders who are busy with their breeding day and night and who dare to invest in the best stallions in the world. If those foals had been sold for six thousand euros, it would not have worked out for all parties. It's really cool that the vision of our auction works. The Power of Performance. That's what buyers come for and they're willing to pay for it."

DVB Foundation
The DVB Foundation was pleased to receive a check for 6,200 euros that will benefit riders with a disability.

Embryo from Sisther de Jeu in online auction

If you want to ensure the very best that is available in dressage breeding, you can own an embryo from the famous Grand Prix mare Sisther de Jeu (by Gribaldi) in two weeks' time under Edward Gal. The embryo is for sale via www.embryoauction.com and can be bid online from today, Monday 14 September. Five embryos have already been auctioned for an average price of 10,100 euros. On Sunday evening the embryo of Quickly de Kreisker out of the dam of Carrera VDL was sold to England for 13,000 euros.

Sisther de Jeu is a daughter of top progenitor Gribaldi from the strong dressage breeding of Huub and Tini van Helvoirt. Her dam is the Amor daughter Esther, who also produced the Grand Prix dressage horse Thriller ridden by Katja Gevers by Gribaldi. Perry, a Jazz from Esther, brought it up to Small Tour level.

The father of the embryo is the magnificent Fürstenball, who is already being called a phenomenon in breeding and sport. The stallion who excels in light-footedness and elasticity won all the championship titles that can be won in Germany at a young age; at the inspections and under the saddle. His breeding is as spectacular as he is. He has already produced several champion stallions, champion mares, most recently the numbers 1 (Fürsten Look), 3 and 4 at the Bundeschampionat for four-year-old dressage horses, and the numbers 1 and 2 at the elite inspection in Rastede.

Those interested can register at www.embryoauctions.com. The starting bid for this embryo is 10,000 euros. For more information: info@embryoauction.com or call +31-(0)342440100.

91 sports foals to Foal Auction Prinsjesdag Tuesday

With about four days to go, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is preparing for the annual elite auction that uses 'The Power of Performance' as the starting point for its selection procedure. A unique collection of foals will be presented in Ermelo on Prinsjesdag, where performance in the direct dam's line is the rule rather than the exception. In addition, the sires are also of exceptional quality. The top five of the WBFSH jumping ranking, Kannan, Cornet Obolensky, Diamant de Semilly, Baloubet du Rouet and For Pleasure, are strongly represented.

No fewer than 22 jumping foals are directly linked to the top 5 of the best breeding stallions. Combine that with the quality and amount of performance in the dam lines and the chance of a future topper is high. The absolute number 1 of the ranking, Kannan, is represented by two direct descendants, but also a grandson with number 2, Cornet Obolensky as sire.

The influence of Heartbreaker and his son Toulon in this collection is also worth mentioning, because no fewer than seventeen foals are direct or indirect descendants of them. One of these is the national champion filly, Korinchidee (by Etoulon VDL) from breeder Dirk Noordhuis.

The videos of the auction foals have already been widely viewed on YouTube and a lot of interest has already been shown online for dressage foals such as Koh-I-Noor (by Johnson), Kasimoglu (by De Niro), Kingston (Fürstenball), Kassion (by. Sir Donnerhall), Kiss of Rose (by De Niro), Kaiser de Niro (by De Niro), Krime-Time (by Bordeaux), Katosion (by Glock's Toto Jr) and Kayne (by Governor). Popular showjumping foals include King Capital B (by Numero Uno), Levita (by Levisto Z), Caesar (by Cornet Obolensky), Kishaniki (by Latour) and Katascha CB (by Kannan).

The 40 dressage and 51 jumping foals will be auctioned next Tuesday, September 15 in Ermelo. The first presentation is at 12:30 PM. For more information: www.prinsjesdag.eu. The auction can be followed via the ClipMyHorse.tv livestream.

Boston STH opens Foal Auction Prinsjesdag

Nine years after being auctioned in Ermelo, the beautiful Boston STH (Johnson x Quattro) opens the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag on Tuesday 15 September. The black pearl has since achieved wonderful successes, such as the Dutch Young Riders Championship this summer with Denise Nekeman. They scored no less than 76,70% in the freestyle to music.

Once Boston STH has shown its dressage talents, the new auctioneer Koen Olaerts will start the auction. Just before the foals are auctioned in two groups, bids are being asked for a bottle of champagne and a beautiful Curly mini foal, made available by Mr. lenses. The proceeds of both items will benefit the DVB Foundation. Curly horses have a curly coat and are hypoallergenic and therefore very suitable for people with an allergy to horses. The DVB Foundation's mission is to support riders with disabilities.

If you want to stay informed about the National Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, you can find all the information at www.prinsjesdag.eu, but also via the downloadable App. Search for this on Prinsjesdag Foal Auction.
