Register your foal(s) online now!

After the record-breaking anniversary editions of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag in 2017, the organization is looking forward to the upcoming auctions with great confidence and ambition. Once again, everything is being done to put together two top collections of dressage and jumping foals, which live up to the motto 'the power of performance'.
If you have or expect an interesting foal from a good dam line, you can register it online on the website from now on. In the months of May, June and July, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag organizes eleven selection days on which the committee visits various addresses in the country to select the best foals for the 26e edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. The first selection day will be on Saturday 5 May, at the Waaij Stud in Eemnes, Stal Wezenberg in IJsselmuiden and Team Nijhof in Geesteren. In addition, the committee also visits breeders' homes if possible. View all selection dates and further information now on the website.

Three Zangersheide approved stallions in one fell swoop

At the spring inspection of Studbook Zangersheide, no fewer than three stallions from the 2015 collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag were approved for breeding. One of these, the striking Baloubet du Rouet son Kazan, was subsequently purchased by Studfarm Zangersheide, which further increases the chance of a bright future.

The Kazan bred by Jan Lamers (Baloubet du Rouet out of the elite sport-jump performance mare Sereuza by Heartbreaker) comes from a real performance line and was therefore easily selected for the auction as a foal. This year he was already selected for the KWPN performance test and shortly afterwards Zangersheide also gave the green light to this jumping cannon. Judy-Ann Melchior immediately caught her eye in Lanaken on the very convincing jumping and genetically valuable Kazan, and bought him for the stud farm.

Two Toulon sons

The genetically interesting, good jumping T.King Toulon WZ (Toulon out of Berlottie W elite IBOP-jump by Emilion) may also serve as a breeding stallion under the flag of Studbook Zangersheide. The Toulon son, bred by Peter and José van Wegen, is closely related to the top show jumper Vincidat (by Guidam) and was purchased by Jonny Roelofsen at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Together with breeder Wim ten Pas he successfully introduced him in Zangersheide. The Toulon son Hongkong B (out of Zita van Contender) also earned the breeding license at Zangersheide. This stallion, bred by Mr. Mangelschots, comes from the direct line of the Grand Prix horse Kira III (by Carthago) and was part of the Prinsjesdag collection in 2015 under his birth name Tocar. At the auction he was sold to Egbert Schep and today he is trying his luck at Hengststation Bachl.

AES approved

Last month, the King of Power SQBS auctioned in 2015 also provided some good news. This Fellini son (ds.Uphill), bred by the Spierings family, came into the hands of Cindy Schuurmans at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag and was admitted to the breeding service at the AES last month. As a foal, this stallion, who is related to the Small Tour horse Patser (by Jazz), was already a huge eye-catcher.

“We were quite sure that we had Mr. wanted Europe”

Buyers: Family Wezenberg & Family Lodewijk

1. Why did Mr. Europe you at the time at the auction?

Marry Lodewijk: “We had agreed to buy a foal together. We were looking for a horse from a well-performing stock. I checked everything and said there is one left and that is Mr. Europe. He had charisma, good movements, a nice color and came from a very good performing stock. We agreed on an amount and immediately bet high, because we knew for sure that we wanted him. In the end we had the highest offer and he was ours.”

2. Is mr. Europe still owned by you?

Benny Wezenberg: “We had him together until he was five, after which the Lodewijk family also bought my share. Later this part was taken over by Stal Houtzager-Kayser. †

3. How was the rearing and training of Mr. Europe?

Louis: “Mr. Until his third year, Europe was reared by the Peeters family in Diever. He was also saddlebroken there. At the age of three he was approved as a breeding stallion at Zangersheide and at the age of four Gerdia Dolfsma hit him further. She has also ridden his first courses with him up to and including M-level. When Gerdia was hit by a serious accident, Mr. Europe went to Marc Houtzager and Julia Kayser as a five-year-old. They trained him further and later became co-owners.”

4. Does Mr. Europe fulfilled your expectations?

Wezenberg: “Yes, it is a horse from the book. He jumps exceptionally. I knew it was going to be a good one, but the fact that it was going to be this good even exceeded my expectations.”

5. Do you have a special relationship with Mr. Europe?

Lodewijk: “I immediately clicked with this horse and have always had confidence in him. His way of jumping was good. When arriving, Gerdia indicated that it was special. Marc Houtzager had the same feeling after he jumped two crosses with him. I go to almost all competitions where Marc Houtzager releases him, only if I really can't do it I follow it via the internet.”

6. Why do you advise people to buy a foal at the Foal Auction Prinsjesdag?

Wezenberg: “I can recommend people to buy a foal at the Prinsjesdag auction because the best foals in the Netherlands are present there. Furthermore, the organization is well put together. I also had several foals from my breeding auction auctioned there. Of course you buy hope, you have no guarantee. But try again to buy a horse from such stocks as a three or four year old. They don't exist, or they are very expensive.”

Lodewijk: “I have a thing for foals and you will find foals from renowned stocks at the Prinsjesdag auction. If you look at it purely, then of course you better buy a three- or four-year-old; they can have you inspected and can show a jump. But if you can get a horse of this age from such a renowned performance as Mr. If you want to find Europe, you have to drive quite a few kilometers, because they are never for sale.”

Kazan and T.King Toulon WZ approved at Zangersheide

At the well-attended spring inspection of Studbook Zangersheide, two stallions from the 2015 collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag were approved for breeding. One of these, the striking Baloubet du Rouet son Kazan, was subsequently purchased by Studfarm Zangersheide, which further increases the chance of a bright future.

The Kazan bred by Jan Lamers (Baloubet du Rouet out of the elite sport-jump performance mare Sereuza s.Heartbreaker) comes from a real performance line and was therefore easily selected for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Last month he was already selected for the KWPN performance test, and now Zangersheide also gave the green light to this jumping cannon. Judy-Ann Melchior immediately caught the eye of the very convincing jumping Kazan in Lanaken, and bought him for the stud farm.

Athletic Future Talent
The genetically interesting, good jumping T.King Toulon WZ (Toulon out of Berlottie W elite IBOP-jump by Emilion) will also be used for breeding under the flag of Studbook Zangersheide. The Toulon son, bred by Peter and José van Wegen, was sold at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag to Jonny Roelofsen, who presented him together with Wim ten Pas at the Belgian stallion selection. Congratulations to all!

Fantastic bronze for Boston STH at NK!

At their first Dutch Championship for Seniors, Denise Nekeman delivered a fantastic performance with the Johnson son Boston STH, one of the successful references of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. In both the Grand Prix and the Freestyle they finished third with nice percentages.

The NK was only the fifth Grand Prix competition for Denise Nekeman and the Boston STH bred by Jan Temmink and it immediately resulted in a medal. In 2015, they already triumphed at the Dutch Championship with the Young Riders, after which they successfully focused on the U25 classes. And now for the Seniors, straight away bronze for the 24-year-old rider and her 12-year-old stallion Boston STH (Johnson out of Volmie ster by Quattro B).

Strong debut
Thanks to a score of 71.92% in the Grand Prix and 72.75% in the Freestyle, the duo achieved an average percentage of 72.34%, which puts them behind Diederik van Silfhout with Expression (by Vivaldi) and Adelinde Cornelissen with Zephyr (by Jazz). ) were able to take their place on the podium. Congratulations!

Successful KWPN Stallion Show!

We can look back on a very successful edition of the KWPN Stallion Show in Den Bosch. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag was present with a beautiful stand at the main arena. Customers, breeders, sponsors, employees, old and new acquaintances knew where to find us.

Six 'Prinsjesdag' stallions entered the arena during the stallion selection in recent days. We congratulate breeder Wim de Korte and owner Cor van Heemskerk on the success of their Kintyre. This son of Galaxy Win was selected for the performance test on Saturday!

The stand was pleasantly busy all week. In particular during the Prinsjesdag drinks on Thursday and Friday afternoon. Many people toasted to the coming breeding year while enjoying a glass of bubbly. A tradition that will certainly be continued. The Stallion Show ended with the special Symphonica horse show. A photo with the star of the evening could not be missed.

Kintyre designated for performance research!

Foal Auction Prinsjesdag congratulates breeder Wim de Korte and owner Cor Heemskerk with the designation of Kintyre! This son of Grand Galaxy Win came under the hammer at our auction in 2015 and is now selected for the KWPN performance test. As a half-brother of the international Grand Prix dressage horse Torricelli M (s.Florestan I) and the Small Tour-classified Emma Daula (s.Vivaldi), this interesting descendant from the Daula line has a lot of potential. Good luck!

Six 'Prinsjesdag' stallions to Den Bosch

Six colts that came under the hammer at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag in 2015 have now been selected as stallions for the second viewing of the KWPN. One of the most striking jumping stallions of the first viewing turned out to be the Toulon son T.King Toulon WZ (ds.Emilion), bred by Peter van Wegen, from the well-known Lottie/Zottie line. He was sold at the auction to Jonny Roelofsen. From the same lineage, the jumping stallion King Pleasure B (For Pleasure x Nabab de Rave, breeder DP van Beelen) was doing well in Ermelo. He is also allowed to show his jumping qualities again in 's Hertogenbosch and he is owned by MJ Smits from Nederhemert.

Dressage

In the dressage direction, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has an interesting movement talent in the second selection round with Keandro (Jazz x Ferro). This black eye-catcher was bred by HA van Erp and is owned by Rob van Ruitenbeek and M. de Rooij.
Tomorrow at 11 am Kagan ter Selle will appear on the track during the KWPN Stallion Show 2018. This son of El Capone out of a Ferro mother was bred by Nelis from Peer and sold as a foal at the Prinsjesdag auction to Mr and Mrs Röst-de Groot van Stole the Haarbosch. Good luck!
Kadym BM is a striking son of Ferdinand out of a Sorento dam. He was bred by the Mom family and sold at our auction.
Kintyre is a son of Grand Galaxy Win and bred by Wim de Korte. He was sold to Cor Heemskerk and will also exhibit his talent in Den Bosch. Breeders and owners: good luck!

Raise a glass to the KWPN Stallion show

From January 31 to February 3, the KWPN Stallion Show in 's Hertogenbosch is on the program. Just like every year, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will be present with a stand at the world's largest stallion selection. You are welcome every day, and in particular during the Prinsjesdag get-togethers, which are held on Thursday 1 February (jumping day) and Friday 2 February (dressage day). On both days you can toast with us to the future of the auction between 5 and 6 pm, meet the 'new' faces of the organization: Emmy Poppelaars and Linda Mailly, and you will receive a special Prinsjesdag present. Of course you can also register your expected foals directly at our booth. We look forward to seeing you!

New organization, same formula

Last year, the 25th edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag was the last to be organized by the event agency EQ International. From next year, the organization will be in the hands of Emmy Poppelaars and former EQ International employee Linda Mailly. They will do everything in their power to allow the auction to grow in a familiar manner, together with the board. The new office address of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag BV is Wakkerendijk 178A, 3755 DH Eemnes.

Familiar faces

Two new, but certainly not unfamiliar faces at the front. Until about 10 years ago, Emmy Poppelaars worked for EQ International, among others, and took on the role of project manager for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag with great pleasure. “I enjoyed doing that for about five years, until I moved to Groningen. It was with regret in my heart that I had to say goodbye to the great job for this auction, but I have always followed everything, partly thanks to my father, who is part of the selection committee”, says Emmy, who has been her partner for about three years now. owns company EP Projects & Events. One of the events she is responsible for is the international competition Indoor Drachten, and now Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has been added. “When it became known that EQ International was going to stop, I was approached to work as a project manager for the Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. I didn't have to think about it for a second, I'm very happy that the auction has crossed my path again. And I look forward to working with Linda. In recent years she has mainly focused on the financial part of the auction, but is now also clearly expanding her tasks. Together we will commit ourselves to the auction.”

Continue to build success

With each their own knowledge and expertise, Emmy and Linda are highly motivated to further expand the success of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. “The auction has been on the rise for years and we hope to continue that way. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has established a great network and a tight auction organization, and we want to continue with the auction in the same way. Because that is clearly a formula that works!”, says Emmy Poppelaars.
