Prinsjesdag foal auction a great success at CSI Houten

The second edition of the exclusive Prinsjedag Foal Auction, in collaboration with CSI Houten, was a great success this evening. The fourteen foals attracted considerable interest, both in the auction hall and online. With two foals fetching €20,000 and a top-seller selling for €24,000 to regular customer Jim Barry of Sovereign Equestrian, it was once again clear how sport and breeding can strengthen each other.

Coco Chanel van 't Meulenhof, daughter of Cavalier Russe Z and granddaughter of Carthina Z, dam of Emerald, Nixon, and Diamanthina van 't Ruytershof, was the highlight of the evening. After a bidding battle between bidders at CSI Houten and online, it was England's Jim Barry who won for €24,000. This loyal buyer of the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction managed to invest in talent once again.

Average 16,000 euros
The fillies were in high demand tonight. The first foal of the evening, Diarado daughter Delicious SJS, was sold to Portugal for €20,000. Charisma-K van Kattenheye (by Chacfly PS) also sold for €20,000, a filly purchased by a Dutch buyer who later this evening also secured two more foals. The fourteen foals averaged €16,000, and thirteen of them were sold, resulting in a sales percentage of 93%.

“Very proud of the breeders' trust”
"We look back on tonight's auction with great satisfaction. We are very proud that renowned breeders have placed their trust in us as an auction and that we are able to offer this platform," said chairman Arjan van der Waaij afterward. "It's very valuable for us at Prinsjesdag Foal Auction to be able to collaborate with venues like CH Deurne and CSI Houten. You can see that this is a great success in these times and results in good buyers. We are very confident about the jumping auction in September on Prinsjesdag and, of course, the new dressage auction on August 23rd at Droom Hoeve."
