Successful kick-off to the auction season at the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction
Last Saturday, May 2, 2026, was entirely dedicated to the first foal auction of the year leading up to Prinsjesdag. During the CSI** in Ermelo, a promising collection of show jumping-bred foals was presented, supplemented with special items for charity. With a special atmosphere, interesting bloodlines, and enthusiastic bidders, we can look back on a successful and dynamic evening.
Strong collection and special auction items
The auction offered a varied selection of top-bred foals with exceptional pedigrees. In addition to the foals, attention was also paid to charity, including an exclusive straw of Chacco Blue II and a unique PAL-V ride in a flying car. These special additions gave the evening an extra dimension.
Wild Girl W steals the show
The absolute highlight of the evening was the filly Wild Girl W, who emerged as the auction topper. With her impressive pedigree, she immediately captured the buyers' attention. Her sire, United Touch S, belongs to the absolute world elite and has built up an impressive list of achievements over the past few years with victories at the highest level, including multiple 5* Grand Prix wins, World Cup competitions, and championship medals.
Wild Girl W also excels on the dam's side. Her dam, Jolly-Girl van 't Roosakker, competed at 1.35m level and has already produced several successful sport horses. Furthermore, grandmother Electra van 't Roosakker is an established name at 5*-level and forms the foundation of an exceptionally successful mare line that is appreciated worldwide.
After no fewer than 17 bids, the hammer finally fell on €24,000, convincingly crowning Wild Girl W as the auction topper.
Strong prices for multiple foals
In addition to the top lot, other foals were also sold for impressive sums. For instance, the filly Claire van 't Gebergte Z fetched €15,500, while Elixir Key Z was sold for €14,000 after 10 bids. These results underscore the quality and appeal of the collection on offer.
Selection committees are already on their way again
Following this successful kick-off, the selection committees of the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction are already setting their sights on the next auctions of the season. Currently, a nationwide search is underway for talented foals for the dressage auction on September 5 at De Droomhoeve and the show jumping auction on September 15 in Ermelo. Breeders who believe they have an interesting foal can register for the selection days.
