Hummer, very succesfull at the European Championships in Budapest
One of our references in the dressage ring that we are particularly proud of is Hummer (by Charmeur out of Caresia by Daddy Cool). That he already stood out as a young horse is evident by the fact that he was twice a reserve for the Dutch team at the World Championships for young horses. This summer he represented the Netherlands with his rider Quinty Vossers for the European Young Riders Championships in Budapest. And with huge success! They won a gold medal with the team and also reached the individual final as debutants.
The breeder of Hummer is Jac Duivenvoorde from Egmond Binnen. “I bought Hummer’s mother when she was two weeks old. She could move strikingly for such a young foal. Her dam Resia (by Ferro) is also the dam of the approved stallion Dream Boy. When Hummer was two weeks old we took him to a foal inspection in Hoofddorp and there he showed off just as strikingly as his mother at the same age. The selection committee of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag was present at this inspection and he was selected for the auction, ”says Duivenvoorde.
Duivenvoorde: “The horses from this line are outstanding because they even gain expression and stamina under the saddle. Quinty once told us that she can ride Hummer three times a day. We recognize that quality in his mother and her other descendants. We would have liked to go to Budapest this summer to see them at work, but due to the Covid-19 problem, that didn’t seem wise to us. Who knows where we can cheer for them again in the future! ”
Sporthorse Clinic Wolvega, a partner with a very important job!
Prior to the foal auction, the selected foals are being checked three times by a veterinarian. The first time by the breeder’s vet. Then by Marco de Bruijn and his team from Sporthorse Clinic Wolvega during the photo / video day and the third time upon arrival on the day of the auction. This is done extremely professionally. It is an important task, in which it is checked whether the foals are correct, don´t have an overbite and / or show heart, lung or eye abnormalities. In addition, it is checked that the animals do not have an umbilical hernia and that the testicles have descended ( colts). We are pleased that this important task is in the hands of our partner Sporthorse Clinic Wolvega!
This health center for horses is located in Friesland and really needs no further introduction. It is one of the most advanced clinics in our country offering the best care and various specialist treatments. There are three different accommodations on the grounds: the hospital, the gynecology department and the sport horse clinic. In addition, the clinic has a farrier and laboratory.
“For us as a foal auction, it is important to work together with skilled veterinarians who have an above-average understanding of foals. The assessment of a foal is ultimately different from that of an adult horse. With the Wolvega team, we have that unburdening knowledge in-house and that feels great! We are therefore very grateful to Wolvega for the work they do for us, ”said the chairman of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag Arjan van der Waaij.
Genesis a real winner!
In 2011 we auctioned a striking colt by Eldorado van de Zeshoek from the famous Minka line. Nine years later, this horse named “Genesis” attracts much attention with his Brazilian rider Cassio Rivetti. “We sold two foals at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, in 2011 it was Genesis and his sister Hadiminka was sold one year later. Genesis had a lot of charisma and was certainly not afraid of anything, I remember that well. Nico Witte bought him at the auction and after we delivered him in Schijndel I didn’t really hear about him anymore,” said Marti van Dijk who bred Genesis together with H.J.H. Bonenkamp from Lemelerveld.
Van Dijk: “A while ago I saw Genesis jumped in the 1.20 m, but had no idea he was doing so well until I read a few weeks ago that he had won a big prize in California. That was a huge surprise! Unfortunately, I have nothing from this line anymore, the mother of Genesis (Buminka B by Odermus R) is now here in Lemelerveld at Meulink.”
Yet the victory in November was not Genesis’s first success at this level. In July he already won the Grand Prix of Del Mar. His Olympic rider Cassio Rivetti rides Genesis since the beginning of this year and is very enthusiastic about the gelding: “He is super constant and doesn’t make mistakes quickly. Since I’ve been riding him, he has improved a lot. He is extremely talented and I’m super happy with him. Who knows where the future will take us!”
