During the first edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag during CSI Ommen, nine jumping foals were auctioned tonight. Under the inspiring leadership of auctioneer Ernesto Conseco, a total of €95,500 was spent in Stegeren. This brought the average sales price to €10,611.
Showjumper Lucas Porter bought the charming Quabri de l’Isle offspring Qualibrie. SZ. Porter: “I am very happy with him. It looks like a very sharp and careful foal, which immediately struck us in the presentation. He jumped over a shadow on the ground. And his pedigree is fantastic. With a super father and from the direct dam line of one of my best horses ever: B Once Z. He just ticks all the boxes! We have another foal this year, it would be nice if those two can grow up together.”
Most wanted foal this evening turned out to be Badr (by Balou du Rouet x Zambesi), who entered the arena one after last. The colt from the direct dam line of, among others, Van Schijndel’s Now or Never and It’s the Business was sold for an amount of €16,000.
Foal Auction Prinsjesdag Chairman Arjan van der Waaij is pleased about the first edition of the auction in Stegeren. “We are pleased that the breeders were loyal to our auction and wanted to participate in this initiative. The majority of the foals were bought by sports people. This is great for breeders, because their breeding products are sold directly to the right people. We’ll most likely see them again in the international jumping ring.”
The following editions of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag take place on 11 and 12 September at the National Equestrian Center in Ermelo (The Netherlands).
