Also this year the National Prinsjesdag Foal Auction is proud to offer a superb collection of foals. Last month the selection committee travelled the roads to select the first exclusive foals and will this week continue their quest for the best foal material of the Netherlands and Belgium.
The selection is stiff. Without exception, foals for the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction of 17 September next in Ermelo must all be living up to the motto ‘the power of performance’. They have to be eye-catchers with fine movements, presence and ancestors producing international sport horses and licensed stallions.
Last year De Niro supplied the Prinsjesdag auction topper in Henderson(De Niro x Jazz), which went for 44,000 euro to the Danish studfarm Blue Hors. This year his full brother has already been added to the auction collection. Sire De Niro shone at the London Olympics via his excellently performing offspring Desperados, Donnerfee and Dablino.
Several further foals have been selected who also have a link with these Olympics. This year a half-brother will be auctioned of the phenomenal jumper Vindicat W (by Guidam), who under Peter Charles made a major contribution to the gold medal won by the British. Also offspring of the Olympic stallionsLondon, who under Gerco Schröder won two silver medals, and Casall have been booked for the auction.
There are still six more selection days for which breeders may enter their foals. In order to really pick out the best Prinsjesdag Foal Auction increased the number of selection locations. The next selection day will be on Saturday 15 June, followed by 17, 18, 24 and 25 June. Foals born after 3 June may be presented on Saturday 27 July.
