22 dressage foals and 37 showjumping foals will be auctioned by Koen Olaerts at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag on Tuesday 15 September. Although online biddings can be made on these carefully selected foals, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag has got the intention to organize a live event as well Tuesday 15 September in Ermelo. “We keep a very close eye on the current developments regarding the corona restrictions and adjust our auction accordingly,” explains chairman Arjan van der Waaij.
Both the dressage and showjumping collections consist of foals that meet the strict criteria of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag, time and again selected with the motto of ‘The Power of Performance’. “We are very pleased that, after two online auctions, we can finish this auction season with a live event for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag”, says Arjan van der Waaij. “We will soon be publishing the further details about the live auction and from then on visitors and VIP guests will be able to register to attend the event.”
Dressage collection with multiple eyecatchers
With an excellent group of 22 dressage foals, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag believes to stand out. “We think that our collection is far above average with a some exceptional eyecatchers,” says Lauw van Vliet, who is responsible for the dressage selection together with Jacques Verkerk. “There are several foals that were bred out of very successful damlines and in addition, have fantastic types and movements. Several colts could be highly interesting for the stallion approvals in a few years’ time as well. The dressage foals expressed their talent on the photo / video days, so I think the videos will speak for themselves ”, Lauw van Vliet explains.
Talent for sport and breeding
With 15 promising colts, the dressage collection has a lot of potential to consist of future breeding stallions. The collection includes interesting sons of Grand Prix stallions such as Glock’s Toto Jr, For Romance I, Totilas and Painted Black, but also promising stallions such as Jameson RS2 and Just Wimphof are well represented. “A striking son of Just Wimphof, for example, is Power of Dreams – bred out of a Johnson dam. The Totilas son Patron du Coeur, out of a mare by Stedinger, is also a foal with enormous potential. This colt was only a few weeks old on the photo / video day, but he is a very special one ”, says Lauw van Vliet.
The group of 7 fillies also consists of top talents for both sport and breeding. “For example, the Daily Diamond foal Princess Lady Texel, who can follow into the footsteps of her excellently auctioned stable mates,” Van Vliet refers to always popular foals bred by Wim van der Linde from De Cocksdorp, Texel. Interesting daughters of Desperado N.O.P, Ebony, In Style, Glock’s Toto Jr, Totilas and Just Wimphof also feature in the auction collection.
Best from European soil in jumping collection
The world’s best damlines are represented in the collection of 37 jumping foals, put together by Fred van Straaten and Willem van Hoof. Think of multiple foals out of the line of Usha van ‘t Roosakker, the line of Qerly Chin, the Van’ t Merelsnest damline or even the line of Glock’s London and Ta Belle van Sombeke. The best damlines from The Netherlands are also represented, such as the Lottie line, the line of Larthago and the damlines of, for example, Gancia de Muze and Zinius. “We think we have selected an excellent group of showjumping foals for the September edition,” says Willem van Hoof on behalf of the selection committee. “Several foals stand out with their pedigrees, but I also think that we have a really strong collection in terms of the quality of the foals themselves. Foals with great conformations and a fantastic way of cantering – both in the group of fillies as well as colts.”
Son of Olympic mare Gibrouille du Lys
The jumping collection includes multiple fillies that could make a difference in breeding. Think of the Chacfly PS daughter Chardonnay van Kattenheye Z – a granddaughter of CSI5 * mare Sea Coast Ferly, or Ulise van ‘t Merelsnest – a daughter of Kasanova de la Pomme straight out of the family of Sapphire and VDL Glasgow van’ t Mereslnest. Kato van het Gebergte – bred out of the sister of Valentina van ‘t Heike – and El Passo Z – El Barone 111 daughter out of top mare Capitola Z – are some of the many examples of excellent fillies out of the Prinsjesdag collection.
In addition, there are several colts that great potential for both sport and perhaps stallion approvals as well. How about Harley Optimus Z – the three-quarter brother of Global Champions Tour winner Harley van de Bisschop – or Chic Philyra V.V. Z – a son of Cornet Obolensky out of the Olympic mare Gibrouille du Lys.
All in all, the September collection of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is very worthwhile to look into and from now on the complete collection is online available at www.prinsjesdag.eu.
