Foal Auction Prinsjesdag offers absolute top genes at CSI Ommen

A direct offspring of Carthago, sons of top showjumpers such as Don VHP and Breitling LS, and the damlines of international outliers like Usha van ‘t Roosakker, Gancia de Muze, As Cold As Ice Z, Plot Blue and Dulf van den Bisschop. For the exclusive Prinsjesdag Foal Auction at CSI Ommen on the 3rd of August, the selection committee was able to select a very interesting group of ten promising foals.

Following the first edition in 2018, the second edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag at CSI3* Ommen will take place on Saturday the 3rd of August. On this evening, auctioneer Koen Olaerts will be auctioning ten very exclusive future talents. Last year it turned out that international top riders took their chance during this auction, and with this year’s collection that chance is even bigger.

Belgian influence
It is remarkable that half of the collection was bred in Belgium. “That is unavoidable at this time because the Belgian breeding has made a big lead in recent decades. Nowhere else you can find so many performance genes as in that breeding area, ”explains selection committee member Fred van Straaten. “We felt like a child in the candy store when we visited several Belgian breeders. They offers fantastic foals with the very best pedigrees, and that is exactly what we are looking for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag.” Selector Willem van Hoof is also eagerly looking forward to the auctions in both Ommen and Ermelo, for which the collection of jumping foals now also has been completed. “This year we were able to select the foals for Ommen at an early stage and we went looking for foals born in the beginning of the season, since the auction is already in the first week of August. I think the selected foals have both interesting sires and damlines and most of the foals are closely related to first class showjumpers. And not only their pedigree but also the foals themselves are very promising. In that respect, all we have to do is hope that they end up in the right hands in Ommen”, concludes Van Hoof.

Outstanding pedigrees
“We were able to make an interesting mix of colts and fillies for the auction in Ommen, which means we expect to meet the demand of buyers. For example, we are very happy with a filly by Cello van de Bisschop from a daughter of Usha van ‘t Roosakker, which will be a very good investment for both the rider and the breeder. In addition, we have interesting fillies by Opium JW van de Moerhoeve and Diamant de Semilly,”adds Van Straaten. “And it’s great that we were able to select a very special colt sired by Olympic sire Carthago, and very promising colts such as a son of Don VHP Z from the Gancia de Muze damline, a For Pleasure out of the family of As Cold As Ice Z, a Poker de Mariposa from the famous Lottie-/Zottie line and a Diarado which originates from the solid Niki damline.”

Sport and breeding
Last year the auction in Ommen proved its worth because top riders as Lucas Porter, Willem Greve and Hendrik-Jan Schuttert invested in the future by purchasing one or more foals. This year there is also the possibility to make a bid online in real time via WeAuction. The entire collection can soon be viewed on The collections for the regular auctions in Ermelo on the 17th (jumping foals) and 18th (dressage foals) of September will also be published here.
