Foal Auction Prinsjesdag organizes eleven selection days in the months of May, June and July. On these days the selection committees will visit different addresses in the country to select the best foals for the 26th edition of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Foals with the best bloodlines and great potential for dressage or show jumping. Foals that can make the difference now and later.
Members of the selection committee Bert Poppelaars and Fred van Straaten are clear about the selection criteria of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag. Bert: “When we’re selecting the foals, we pay attention to correct conformation, quality, long lines and suppleness. Furthermore, in terms of pedigree, the foal must bring sport with it and be commercially attractive.”Fred van Straaten adds: “We take a close look on the pedigree. We like to see that the dam, granddam and great-granddam have performed in the show jumping sport themselves, and/or that they have produced offspring which stands out. This gives an indication of the ability and willingness to work of a horse. We are looking for horses that stand out, who fight for you. When a foal enters the arena and it is independent, moves in the right way and draws it’s own plan, then you know it can be a good one.” Bert: “We do not make any concessions in terms of quality. Both the mare and the foal must be outstanding.”
On Saturday the 5th of May the first selection day for Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will be organized. On this day foals can be selected at the Waaij Stud in Eemnes, Stal Wezenberg in IJsselmuiden and Team Nijhof in Geesteren. In addition, the selection committee also comes to breeders at home. The first foals for the auctions on 11 and 12 September have already been selected. More news about these future talents will follow soon. On our website you can register your foal(s) online, and find all selection dates and further information.
