Exclusive Prinsjesdag foal collection at CSI4* Ommen

On Saturday evening, the 4th of August, nine very interesting jumping foals will be sold by auctioneer Ernesto Canseco at the first edition of the Prinsjesdag foal auction during the international show in Ommen. The collection is now online.

For the upcoming edition of CSI4* Jumping De Driehoek in Stegeren-Ommen Foal Auction Prinsjesdag and family Schuttert have joined forces. By auctioning a very select group of high-quality foals between the ranking class and the Medium Tour final, sports and breeding come together in a perfect way. “We look forward to the auction because we have great confidence in the initiative, the organization and the collection. We were able to select nine interesting sport foals, descending from stallions such as Balou du Rouet, Berlin, Quabri de L’Isle and Toulon”, says selection committee member Fred van Straaten.

Sports stage
To bring breeding this close to the sport, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag expects to attract an other audience than the existing auctions on the 11th and 12th of September in Ermelo. “For 26 years we have been selecting the very best foals that underline our motto ‘The power of performance’. Our entire selection is dominated by the sport, because the horses prove themselves in it and it’s the reason people want to invest in young talents. In this way we can present promising foals with pedigrees packed with performance genes, on a great sports stage”, adds chairman Arjan van der Waaij.

Closely related
The foals for the auction in Ommen have all a lot of potential to develop into excellent jumping horses. “As a breeder and as a member of the selection committee, we follow the international sport closely. We keep track of results and are focused on all developments. That also had consequences for the way we started selecting foals. What matters is that there is as much sport as possible in the first generations of the foal’s pedigree. We want foals to be closely related to successful international show jumpers”, explains Van Straaten. “Our southern neighbors have made great progress with this and the Belgian breeding has -unconsciously- a clear influence on our foal collections. We are pleased that we have been able to select nine very interesting foals for the auction in Ommen, and are entirely dependent on the breeders. They were once again very loyal to us as a foal auction, and the majority of the breeders was enthusiastic from the first moment about our new initiative in Ommen.”

One filly and eight colts are part of the collection. Find the complete list now on this website.
