The KWPN approved Edinburgh ‘finally’ took home the victory in the Blom Stallion Competition at Zuidbroek yesterday evening. Both in Ermelo and in Roosendaal, Edinburgh and Kristian Houwen ended up in third place, but in Zuidbroek they proved their enormous talent with a victory. Edinburgh was auctioned at Foal Auction Prinsjesdag in 2009.
Breeders Evert Meijer and Gerard Lindeboom from Dalfsen bred Edinburgh – a son of Vleut out of the Darco-daughter Olympic Queen. Loyal investor at Prinsjesdag Jos Althuijzen acquired the Vleut-son at the foal auction and nowadays the extremely talented cousin Tyson is co-owned by Jos Houwen.
Edinburgh and Kristian Houwen won the KNHS/KWPN Stallion Competition at both the age of four and five and this year, Edinburgh will again be entering the finals in Den Bosch as one of the favorites for the championship. A remarkable fact is that Edinburgh already won the stallion competition in Zuidbroek in both 2014 and 2015!
“It became about time”, Kristian Houwen laughed after his victory riding Edinburgh. “It is great that Edinburgh has won here again, it is an real fighter.”
Foal Auction Prinsjesdag congratulates the breeders Gerard Lindeboom and Evert Meijer, the rider Kristian Houwen and owners Jos Althuijzen and Jos Houwen with this wonderful result!
