Tonight the second online auction of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag turned out to be a successful one. Ten jumping and seven dressage foals were auctioned and the top price was payed for the outstanding Diarado filly Perla AASJ, which was sold for EUR 20,000. On average, the jumping foals achieved better prices than the dressage foals, but the quality will bring the ultimate success of this collection.
Nine out of ten showjumping foals were sold and on average they realized a price of € 9,900. “It was very positive to see that the bids were made from all over the world. Not only within Europe, but also from the United States and the United Emirates. We are pleased to note that the customer base of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is still growing. This is due to the high quality of the foals selected for our auctions, and the long line of successful references,” explains chairman Arjan van der Waaij.
Supply and demand
The most expensive filly Perla AASJ (Diarado x For Pleasure, breeder Al Asayl Showjumping) remains in the Netherlands. There was a lot of interest for this talented great-granddaughter of the phenomenal mare Fragance de Chalus. Other jumping foals have been sold to Great Britain, Hungary and Scandinavia. “This time we had more colts than fillies in the jumping direction and in recent years we have seen continuously that top-bred fillies yield the best prices. This has also been shown during this auction. For the dressage foals, this time we had considerably more fillies than colts, five against two, and that on average sells less well. We are quite disappointed in the prices for the dressage foals, but it is of course the market that determines the current market value. They are all foals that meet our strict criteria, so we are sure that the buyers will be very happy with their new purchases. In addition, we could see that a lot of bids for the dressage foals were made in the live auction, while the jumping foals got the most bids in the pre-bidding phase.”
The dressage foals yielded an average price of €7,250 and with a price of €8,500 the elegant Pyria SC (Fürstenball x Vivaldi, breeder C. van der Mierden) was the best paid foal. Buyers from France and Belgium, among others, invested in the dressage foals. “We are looking forward to the third online auction, which will be completed on August the 18th. We will end the season of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag on September the 15th, when we will be online and hopefully with a traditional auction in Ermelo.”
