Just like every year, Foal Auction Prinsjesdag also shows its social involvement in 2019 by supporting two charities. On the day of the jumping foals, an auction piece will be sold for the benefit of Support Casper, and Villa Pardoes is supported in this way during the auction for the dressage foals on the 18th of September.
Last year Foal Auction Prinsjesdag auctioned the very special show jumping foal Velleza-S Z, from which 50 percent of the auction price was donated to the Support Casper campaign of the Dutch Foundation for surviving with pancreatic cancer (Stichting Overleven met Alvleesklierkanker). This organization is fully committed to fighting one of the most aggresive forms of cancer. Every day, eight people die of pancreatic cancer in the Netherlands alone. 90% of the patients with whom it is diagnosed do not survive the disease. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer and at the same time collect structural money to make much-needed research into new, innovative treatment methods possible. Campaigner is oncologist and surgeon Casper van Eijck. He specializes in pancreatic cancer and collects money for new research. Foal Auction Prinsjesdag will support this important campaign during the auction of show jumping bred foals on the 17th of September.
Villa Pardoes is an initiative of Stichting Natuurpark De Efteling, and the idea is based on the successful concept of the ‘Give Kids the World’ organization that offers seriously ill children a vacation in the United States. Villa Pardoes offers an unforgettable free vacation for families with a serious, potentially life-threatening, sick child aged four to twelve. For children who would love to think of something else for a while, other than their illness. For brothers, sisters, parents, grandfathers and grandmothers who dream of a carefree week together. Villa Pardoes has twelve holiday homes and exists thanks to the efforts of a large number of volunteers, employees and sponsors who find it important that seriously ill children and their families also have an unforgettable holiday. This foundation forms a charity at the Prinsjesdag dressage foal auction on Wednesday the 18th of September.
