The motto ‘The power of performance’ of the National Prinsjesdag Foal Auction does not only feature in the selection process but also in the competition ring, week after week. Several foals sold in the past have since grown into (inter)national sport horses and recently a few new ones could be added to the list.
Bonne Chance CW (Baloubet du Rouet x Olijfje PROK by Cambridge, breeder H.J.F. van Loon from Hooge Mierde) who was auctioned in 2006, is now successfully starting in international classes for young showjumping horses under the Swiss Jannika Sprunger. In May at San Giovanni in Marignano they won two second prizes in the 7-yr-olds. Before, in Offenburg, they had finished third.
Patrick McEntee and Zidane D (Heartbreaker x Nikilly elite by Calato, breeder J.H. Driessen from Heythuysen) who was auctioned in 2004, managed to win a Grand Prix in Azerbeidzjan. In this CSI4* competition in Bakuthey they completed the jump-off with four riders in the fastest time.
The selection committee of the National Prinsjesdag Foal Auction is currently occupied with compiling a new collection of very high quality foals. The last selection days for which breeders can still enter their foals are on Monday and Tuesday next.
On Monday 24 June the committee will visit Stal Wezenberg (IJsselmuiden), Hengstenhouderij Brinkman (Twello), Enterbrook (Enter), Stal ‘t Hofstee (Lattrop), Manege De Hazelhorst (Den Ham) and Manege Bartels (Mariënheem).
On Tuesday 25 June selection will take place at Manege Boekweitakkers (Dalerveen), Wim Cazemier (Nuis), Stal Seldsum (Jelsum), VDL Stud (Beers) and Noorderkoggen Ruiters (Benningbroek). Foals born after 3 June may be presented on Saturday 27 July in Kootwijkerbroek.
